How to shave - tips & tricks

Using Total Shaving Solution™ is easy ... follow these simple instructions for the best shave of your life!

  1. Forget everything you thought you knew about shaving! Lots of lather does not equal a good shave.

  2. Don't shave as soon as you get up. Have breakfast first. Give your skin a chance to wake up!

  3. Ideally, shave in the shower or bath as the steamy environment will help to soften the bristles. On average it takes 3 and a half minutes for stubble to 'wet out' properly - making it easier to shave.

  4. If you prefer to shave with water in a bowl or sink, ideally do this just after you've had a shower, and make sure you wash your face first with plenty of hot water to get the bristles soft. Don't wash your face in cold water - this will close your pores and make the hair harder to cut.

  5. After generously wetting your face with hot water, apply 3 drops of Total Shaving Solution™ to your wet hands and massage it into your beard. Don't be tempted to use more than the 3 drops - the water combines with the drops to give you all the lubrication you need, and if you use too much it's likely to clog your razor's blade.

  6. Start by getting to know your beard by rubbing your fingers over it. It's important to know which direction the hair grows and where it's thickest.

  7. Make sure you have a sharp, clean blade. You won't get a close shave from a blunt blade, and you're more likely to end up with redness and blotches on your face and neck.

  8. Start shaving where the hair is thinnest (often this is around the side of the face). Continue to the throat, and finish with the section around your mouth and chin

  9. Shave in short strokes, stretching the skin with your free hand. It's important to shave in the direction of the hair growth (generally this is down on the cheeks and chin). If you're not sure, run your finger across the stubble to see which direction it's growing in. Shaving against the direction of hair growth is the most common cause of razor burn, redness and rashes.

  10. Rinse the blade regularly as you shave - this unclogs the debris from the blade, but it also carries more water to your skin. Don't press too hard against your skin - take it easy! Remember a razor is essentially a knife blade you're holding to your throat, so don't hurry.

  11. If you feel your skin is getting dry, don't be afraid to splash some hot water onto your face, and remember, for your skin's sake, the wetter the better! Water won't dilute the effects of the oil, it actually activates the natural oil to soften the hairs, making them easier to cut.

  12. After shaving rinse your face in lukewarm water and pat it dry with a towel. Don't rub it, as this can reduce the skin's elasticity and speed up the signs of ageing.

  13. Don't apply aftershave to your face. Most aftershaves are made from alcohol, which has a drying effect on the skin. To wear a fragrance, simply apply it to the pulse points on your neck and wrists.

That's it..so simple.. and you don't need any messy foams or gels. And no waste!

Just 3 drops of Total Shaving Solution™ , that's all you need (except of course, besides your razor and water!)
